The BigQuery Cost Breakup Dashboard has been introduced in GCP Lens to provide a clear, intuitive, and comprehensive view of BigQuery spending across projects and services. Designed for FinOps teams, data engineers, and cloud administrators, the dashboard delivers end-to-end visibility by breaking down costs across projects, regions, services, resource groups, SKUs, and APIs.
It combines high-level summary cards with interactive visual trends and detailed resource-level insights, enabling users to understand where BigQuery costs originate and how they change over time. Key summary metrics include monthly cost with month-over-month change, forecasted cost, total active projects, total storage cost, on-demand analysis cost, and reserved edition usage, where applicable.
The dashboard enhances cost analysis through structured service and trend visualizations, including monthly cost by service, project-wise service cost, and region-wise service cost. Granular SKU and API-level breakdowns highlight Resource Group-wise SKUs, BigQuery Storage API costs, and BigQuery Reservation API costs, helping users differentiate between analysis, storage, compute, and reservation-based spending.
A dedicated Top 20 Resources table provides deep visibility into high-cost resources with details such as project, region, pricing type, usage units, and total cost. With dynamic month selection, interactive charts, export-ready tables, and optimized performance for large datasets, the BigQuery Dashboard simplifies cost visibility and strengthens financial accountability within GCP environments.
