GCP Resource-Based Scheduler for Compute Engine & Cloud SQL
A. Compute Engine - VMs
- Virtual Machine (VM) Scheduler – GCP
- Scheduler Dashboard is now available for Compute Engine VMs across onboarded GCP projects.
- Provides visibility into Scheduler Coverage, Total Spend, Potential Savings, and Savings Achieved.
- Eligible VMs are listed with project, region, zone, status, and potential savings details.
- Users can enable/disable scheduling and configure recurring start/stop timings at the resource level.
- Enables cost optimization by running VMs only during required hours.

B. Cloud SQL
- Scheduler Dashboard now supports scheduling for Cloud SQL instances.
- Displays key metrics including Scheduler Coverage, Total Spend, Potential Savings, and Savings Achieved.
- Users can configure start/stop schedules for supported Cloud SQL primary instances.
- Read replicas and dependent nodes appear as disabled, as scheduling is supported only at the primary instance level.
- Helps optimize database costs through controlled runtime management.
